Athletes of the Month
Abberly Dela Rosa is a great student athlete that cares about her community. Not only is she one of the top scorers on Darby Varsity Girls Lacrosse team; she is also very active with multiple clubs and volunteering. In her spare time, she helps kids and the local Sheriff’s Office during the holidays with the program called “Shop with a Deputy”. She’s been doing this since she was in middle school and enjoys giving her time to those in need. Abberly also helps the local Hilliard Optimist Youth Lacrosse Organization in town and volunteers her time to promote lacrosse in Hilliard Ohio. She loves to teach and pass on her knowledge and passion for the game. These are just a few things she does because she’s not only a great athlete that serves her community and surrounding area to help kids but she’s also an excellent student. She has a 4.5 weighted GPA and takes a few AP classes. She’s athletic, smart, compassionate and the total package. Congratulations on being named April’s Athlete of the Month!
Congratulations to Alex Smith, Boys Track & Field, for being named Hilliard Darby’s Athlete of the Month for April. During the month of April Alex has broken the school record twice in the long jump. At the Fulton Relays Alex jumped an effort of 23 feet 8.5 inches. This is over a foot longer than any other jumper in Darby history and currently the farthest jump in the state of Ohio. Along with his long jump efforts Alex has also set the school record in the triple jump (42 feet 3 inches), has moved to #5 all time in school history in the high jump, and is one of the area’s top runners in the 400m. Alex not only excels on the track but in the classroom as well. He has a 3.919 GPA and is a great role model for Darby’s student body.
