Welcome to the Hilliard City School District.

Whether this is your first student entering the District or you already have students here, we are thrilled to have you as a part of our school community.

There are many exciting opportunities to explore in the Hilliard Schools.  All the information you need to begin this journey is on this page.  Please reach out at any time if you have questions.

We are here to make the enrollment process as smooth as possible for your family!

Hilliard City Schools enrolls all students using an online registration. Once you start the application, you have 30 days to complete it; otherwise, it will be deleted due to inactivity. Parents or legal guardians must provide all required documents to finalize the application. After submission, an enrollment specialist will review your application and contact you via email to complete the process. Please note that your application will not be processed without all of the required documents. Click the appropriate box below and follow the steps for enrollment. Allow at least 10 business days for processing. If you were not able to upload the necessary documents to your child’s registration, there are other options available.

  • Log back into the registration at a later date and upload them. Please be sure to use a different title for the new items you are uploading to ensure you do not delete any documents previously uploaded to the registration.
  • Email them to welcomecenter@hboe.org
  • Fax: 614-921-7135
  • Bring them into the Welcome Center, 2140 Atlas Street, Columbus, OH 43228, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

After the Registration is complete, it is a minimum of two days before the student will start school.

If you are unsure if you reside within the boundaries of the Hilliard City School District, please check the following documents to verify.

Graduated & 18+ Registrants

Use this resource guide to make informed decisions about U.S. educational options (high school diploma, high school equivalency, applying to college, studying the English language, etc.).

Transfers

OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) rules stipulate that when a voluntary transfer to another high school is granted to a student in grades 9-12, the student shall be ineligible for all contests (including all scrimmages, preview/jamboree/Foundation games) until after the first 50 percent of the maximum allowable regular-season contests in those sports in which the student participated during the 12 months immediately preceding this transfer have been completed. The realignment of boundaries establishes athletic eligibility.

Hardship / Emergency Transfer Requests

Transfer Request forms will be available online from January 8, 2024, through March 8, 2024.

Transfer requests deadline is March 8, 2024.  Late transfers requests submitted after March 8, 2024, are unlikely to be honored.

Preschool and Peer Model Program

The program is primarily designed for children with disabilities; however, typically developing preschool-age children who enjoy a well-rounded, developmentally appropriate preschool experience may apply to serve as peer models for students with disabilities. Click on the appropriate grade level above to start the registration process.

Kindergarten Students

If your child will be 5 years old on or before September 30th of the current school year, he/she is eligible to start kindergarten for the current school year. View the Kindergarten Guide. Kindergarten Screening is handled at the building, so contact them for more information.

Early Entrance – Kindergarten

According to State Law, children who turn (5) years of age on or before September 30 of the school year are eligible for enrollment in Kindergarten. For children who turn (5) years of age AFTER September 30, but BEFORE January 1 of that same school year, grade acceleration assessments are available to determine whether or not the child is eligible for “Early Entrance” into Kindergarten.

The Ohio Department of Education considers early entrance into kindergarten a grade-level acceleration and therefore requires school districts to formally evaluate to determine if a child is a candidate for acceleration.

If your child turns (5) years of age between October 1st and December 31st of a given school year and you would like for them to participate in the early entrance assessment process please  complete the following steps:

  1. Please register your child online at:  https://www.hilliardschools.org/kindergarten/
  2. Come to the Hilliard City Schools Welcome Center to pick up an Early Entrance Application
  3. Complete the application, records release, parent questionnaire, and preschool teacher questionnaire and return all four documents to Hilliard City School District Central Office no later than July 31st

Once your application documents are received, you will be contacted by a school psychologist to schedule an assessment. Assessments will occur from April through May and again in August (for applications received over the summer).
