BEGINNING CHOIR
To be in choir, all you need to do is sign up and have a sincere desire to sing! It’s a wonderful class that builds vocal independence, friendship and confidence.
Information about 6th Grade Choir
The Hilliard Station and Tharp Choirs are programs where children learn proper choral vocal technique and a wide variety of repertoire. All practices take place within the school day with performances in the evenings. Choir may occasionally require an after school rehearsal prior to concerts. During the year-long course, students will learn to read, write and perform music in a choral setting.
All students, including those who will enroll in band or orchestra, are also encouraged to join choir! The music department works hard to ensure that students are both able to learn to play instruments and able to sing in choir. Playing an instrument helps students develop skills for choral singing, and singing in a choir helps students develop greater ear training and aural skills crucial for playing an instrument- it all works together!
Our 6th grade choirs at Station and Tharp are supportive environments for your students to develop their skills as singers and prepares them for exciting opportunities at the Middle and High School levels. We hope you’ll consider registering for choir this year!
