Theater Activities
Davidson’s Theater program has a long tradition of artistic and educational excellence that continues year after year. Davidson’s after-school program includes Drama Club, Tech Crew, and Thespian Troupe #1316.
Participation in Davidson Theater’s Drama Club is open to any student regardless of enrollment in Theater courses.
- October heralds a children’s play that is cast with 9th-12th graders the minute we return to school from summer break. November currently features an entirely student-produced evening of one-acts or full-length production. January and February see two productions – one exclusively for 11th and 12th graders and the other exclusively for 9th and 10th graders. This arrangement allows us to offer more challenging work for our more experienced performers while providing the opportunity for newcomers to tackle major roles and gain experience in a separate production.
- April welcomes the spring musical which is open to all students in our high school. Although principals and dance corps are auditioned, the chorus is open to anyone who attends all scheduled rehearsals and strives to perform to the best of his/her ability.
- Additionally, in the past Davidson’s Drama Club has produced improv performances, open mic nights, variety showcases, staged readings of student-written work, and more!
Hilliard Davidson High School Drama Boosters is a parent organization formed to support Theater education efforts at the school. Parents meet monthly during the school year to plan support for the school’s productions, to staff fundraisers to support the program, to provide parental input regarding the Theater program, to advocate for Theater education both within our community and our state, and to allow parents to be involved with their children’s interests. Membership is open to any parent of a Davidson Theater student – whether the student is a member of a Theater class, Drama Club, or Tech Crew.
Participation in Davidson Theater’s Tech Crew is open to any student regardless of enrollment in Theater courses.
Tech Crew is involved in every Davidson Theater production. From building the sets to running the lights and sound, to keeping the rest of the team organized, Tech Crew creates half of the Theater experience for the audience.
Students are able to participate through the year by working on individual Theater productions, designing elements of student directed productions, running events in the PAC for other school groups, or even working as a representative of the school for outside rentals.

Please note, that we do offer specific programming for children also. Regardless of age, everyone is required to have a ticket.

Our STAR Program:
Hilliard Davidson’s general philosophy is that the Theater program, as with all of its educational programs, should be accessible to all students. We believe in developing the potential of each student by providing opportunities to participate at incremental levels in our productions and in our classes. Whether in our extracurricular productions or through our wide array of Theater courses, students receive a rich exposure to both the art and practice of Theater.
In addition to the knowledge that you will have helped to support the educational efforts of Davidson’s students by supporting the arts in Hilliard City Schools, when you participate in our STAR program at any level, you will receive complimentary tickets to see your investment in action. This additional level of financial support allows us to provide much of the programming that will benefit our students.
