Bradley eNews – October 29, 2021

Good Afternoon Jaguar Families,

It’s hard to believe that next week will be the start of November. This week our Sophomore and Junior students had an opportunity to attend the first ever Hilliard City School Career Expo. Our students had an opportunity to meet and talk to a number of different trade professionals and learn about possible career opportunities in their future. Our students represented Bradley well and we are looking forward to this event next school year.

I would like to take the time to thank all of our families and staff that have had an opportunity to come out and support our performing arts students this fall. Our band, choir, theatre and orchestra students have done a wonderful job starting off the year with some great performances that many of you have attended. Thank you for your support.

Finally, our football team is hosting a home playoff game against Lancaster tonight at 7:00pm, and the Jaguar marching band is playing in the OMEA State Championship hosted at Bradley High School on Saturday morning at 11:45am. We are looking forward to seeing you at these events.

Have a great weekend and Go Jags!

Counselor News – October 2021

Time is short to finish work on your common application process, remember that November 1 is a deadline for most colleges to receive financial aid.  Your application must be submitted by the November 1 deadline.

Colleges are coming to Bradley to talk about their schools.  Please sign up through Naviance, you will find the dates and time of their visits.  The school counselor web site has a link on how to complete the common application process, check it out.

The school counseling office is offer three groups to support our mental health concerns for our students.  They are the following, if you child might be of interest please contact our mental health specialist, Ms. Burgos and Mrs. O’Neil.

“JAG Social”

This group is for students who are new to Bradley, or are having trouble acclimating, and those who could benefit from opportunities to form connections with peers. This group will be (mostly) unstructured and we will have activities and conversation starters to help with peer connection, bonding, and sense of belonging. This group will take place during/immediately after students’ lunch, so ideally, it should not affect class time.

“Healthy Relationships Group”

This group will focus on ways to integrate healthy communication, boundaries, and conflict resolution into our relationships, while learning how to identify and prevent problematic unhealthy and/or abusive relationship behaviors. This group will also discuss difficult topics such as teen dating violence and assault in all forms. Because of some of the sensitive nature of our discussions, the mental health specialists will be screening membership for this group to ensure a healthy group dynamic.

“Mending Mindset”

This group will be focused on all things anxiety and learning about your mind and how to cope with anxiety.  These groups will be held once a week and will occur during the school day.  During this time, we will focus on understanding what anxiety is, where it comes from, and how to help!  Our topics will include ways to be mindful, ways to use coping strategies in our daily routines, how to problem-solve to help avoid anxiety, and more!
