THIS WEEK IN ATHLETICS

Good Afternoon Jaguar Parents,

Our first week back from break went well. Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior scheduling meetings will begin February 4th. Please start talking to your students about their class choices to ensure they are making the best decisions about the classes they are scheduling. As we begin to build the building schedule for the 2025-2026 school year, it is essential that our students make informed scheduling decisions.

Grades will be available on January 14th. Please review your child’s grades and discuss strengths and areas of improvement to set goals for the third quarter. Take time to celebrate your child’s successes and continue to work with his/her respective teachers to achieve any improvement that needs to take place. This is also an excellent time to re-emphasize your expectations for your child for the remainder of the year.

Have a great weekend, and Go Jags!!!

Welcome back Jaguars!  We are excited to see students back in the building.

Skilled Trades

More and more students are asking about jobs in the trades. This video called Intro to the Trades, takes an overhead view of many of the careers in this industry. The full series, which can be found here, takes a deeper dive into many other trades out there, and shadows and interviews those who are Carpenters, Operating Engineers, and Plumbers, just to name a few. A great resource to learn a lot about the Skilled Trades.

Tolles Adult Ed. Classes

If you or your student is looking for other opportunities, don’t forget about Tolles’ Adult Education programs. High School graduates looking to begin a career without attending college, or adults looking to level-up their own career path can take advantage of the opportunities offered at Tolles. They offer programs and training in Firefighting, Welding, Multi-Craft Maintenance, as well as those interested in becoming an EMT or earning their State Tested Nurse Aid (STNA) certification. These programs have fees, but open doors to promising careers!

Bradley Theater Presents “Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood”

Join us for a gender-bending, patriarchy-smashing, hilarious new take on the classic tale which has been adapted for performance by teen actors for family audiences.

Robin Hood is (and has always been) Maid Marian in disguise, and leads a motley group of Merry Men (few of whom are actually men) against the greedy Prince John. As the poor get poorer and the rich get richer, who will stand for the vulnerable if not Robin? What is the cost of revealing your true self in a time of trouble?

Friday January 31 @ 7pm
Saturday February 1 @ 2pm and 7pm

Kindergarten Registration January 13, 2025

Hilliard City School District will begin Kindergarten Registration on January 13, 2025, for the 2025-26 school year.  If your child will be five years of age on or before September 30, 2025, they are eligible to start kindergarten during the 2025-26 school year. Parents can access the registration website (on or after January 13, 2025) to complete online registration. Once you have completed the registration process and provided all required documentation, you will be given access to schedule your child’s kindergarten screening appointment for August.  Please don’t delay.  The District uses registration numbers in the spring to determine how many kindergarten classes will be offered at each building. Please make sure that your child is enrolled as soon as possible to secure a spot at the building assigned to your address.

Contact the Hilliard City Schools Welcome Center at (614) 921-7096 with questions.  For more information, please visit the Hilliard City School District website at www.hilliardschools.org.

Understanding Snow Day Decisions

Winter weather in Central Ohio brings its fair share of challenges, and deciding whether to delay or cancel school is one of the most difficult responsibilities our team faces. We know these decisions impact families, staff, and our entire community, and take this responsibility very seriously.  Click here to read about what goes into making these important decisions.
