In recognition of Hispanic Heritage month we honor and thank our active duty military personnel as well as veterans.  Within the four military branches of the US Department of Defense it was reported in 2017 that 36% of active duty military are of Hispanic descent.  There are approximately 1.1 million veterans in the United States who are of Hispanic origin.

All sophomores and juniors will be attending the Skilled Trades Exposition at the Franklin County TODAY Tuesday, Oct. 10. Please check your “Class of” Canvas page for your Bus #, Chaperone, and time you will be leaving TODAY. Sophomores who have a 4th or 5th period lunch will eat during 6th period today. All Juniors will eat during 4th period lunch.

Attention students who took the ASVAB test. Please mark your calendar for Monday, October 23 at 9:30 to have your results interpreted. If you know that you cannot be in attendance, please see Mrs. Mongolier in Guidance.

Auditions for the next show in Davidson Theatre’s Season will take place TODAY Tuesday, Oct 10, after school in room 70. Audition packets for this student directed production can be picked up outside of room 70 or from Mr. Crawford in room 247. 

Please congratulate James Tarantine for his artwork selection in the “State of the Arts” at Ohio University. His artwork will be on display over the next few weeks.  James’ piece of art was selected from across the state through a rigorous process. Congratulations James!

The Women in Engineering Club will meet on Wednesday October 11th in room 147. Anyone interested is welcome to attend!

The Key Club October General Meeting will be held in Room 202 after school today. Please make sure to be there for new opportunities and announcements.

GSA will meet on October 19th after school in room 167, from 2:45-3:15

Join Film Club.

Can you tumble on the basketball court? Do you have a lot of school spirit and energy? If so, come tryout for basketball cheer. Basketball Cheer Tryouts are Thursday, Oct. 26. 5pm-9pm in the Main Gym at Davidson. 

Your physical and Final Forms must be current. Bring a print out of your grades and attendance to the tryout.  Be sure to know the Fight Song. Standing and running tumbling will be executed on the gym floor, no mats or spots. Contact Coach Clark with questions.

Hilliard Davidson Girls Tennis is making history! All 7 Varsity players made it to the qualifying round at Sectionals. They will compete this coming Wednesday at Upper Arlington. This is the first time Hilliard Davidson Girls tennis has sent 4 players to Districts!

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month we recognize Michelle Lynn Lujan Grisham. Lujan Grisham is an American lawyer and politician.  She was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2011, serving three terms in Washington on behalf of New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District.  Since 2019, she has been serving as the 32nd governor of New Mexico.  She is the first Democratic Latina to be elected governor in U.S. history.

Hilliard Davidson Girls Tennis is making history! All 7 Varsity players made it to the qualifying round at Sectionals. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month we recognize Tom Fears. Fears was the first Hispanic Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee in 1970.  From 1948 through 1956, Fears played wide receiver and tight end for the Los Angeles Rams. In his nine NFL seasons, Fears caught 400 passes for 5,397 yards and 38 touchdowns. Later in his life he became an assistant coach for the Rams and the Packers.  He was also an entrepreneur and military veteran.

All sophomores and juniors will be attending the Skilled Trades Exposition at the Franklin County Tuesday, Oct. 10 during the mid-morning/early afternoon sessions. Please check your “Class of” Canvas page for your Bus #, Chaperone, and time you will be leaving on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Students will be released from class through via PA announcement. Sophomores who have a 4th or 5th period lunch will eat during 6th period on that day. All Juniors will eat during 4th period lunch.
