In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month today we recognize Dolores Huerta. Dolores Huerta is a living civil rights icon. She has spent most of her life as a political activist fighting for better working conditions for farmworkers, and she is a firm believer in the power of political organizing to effect change.  She co-founded the United Farm Workers of America union with Ceasar Chavez. Though often overshadowed, she coined the movement’s famous slogan, Sí se puede — Spanish for “Yes, we can”.  President Barack Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.

Seniors- final round of Homecoming Court voting will be live today and end tomorrow, September 20th. Link can be found in your class of 2024 canvas course.

As part of Homecoming Week, Student Council is hosting a movie night Wednesday, September 20th on Davidson’s Lawn between the school and bus loop. Based on your votes, we will be showing Tangled! Doors open at 7:30 and the movie starts at 8. Tickets are $5 and must be purchased online through local level- the link can be found on Student Council’s instagram page.

Today is pop vs country day, Wednesday is Barbie vs Ken, Thursday is Disco Day, and Friday is Neon day!

Homecoming is this Saturday. Tickets are $20 for Davidson students and $25 for guests. Guests must be current Hilliard City School high school students or alumni under the age of 21. Tickets are available for purchase on Local Level.   

Art club meets today after school today until 3:30. Everyone is welcome to attend 161

The MSA will hold its first general meeting on Thursday, September 21 in room 202 at 2:45. All are welcome! 

Don’t miss the next Drama Club meeting on THURSDAY, right after school in room 70. We have a lot of great things to talk about and new members are welcome! See Mr. Crawford or a club officer with any questions!

Key club is hosting a Pie in the Face fundraiser during all lunches this week. Bring in money for a chance to be entered to pie the winning teacher in the face! The teacher with the most money earned will be pied at the Pep Rally on Friday.

The Women in Engineering Club will meet Wednesday, September 20th after school in room 147. Anyone interested is invited to join us, even if you have never been to a meeting. If you have questions see Fama Seck or Mr. Kuch.

The Wrestling team will be holding open mats every Thursday from 3:30pm-4:30 pm in the wrestling room until the start of the season. Come and check us out !

Attention juniors and seniors. There are quite a few colleges scheduled to visit Davidson. Today, we have Ohio Dominican at 12:50. If you would like to meet with them, please see Mrs. Mongolier in Guidance. 

This week college visits include Ohio State on Tuesday, Kent State on Wednesday, Central Michigan and John Carroll on Thursday and the University of Kentucky on Friday. Sign up in Schoolinks for a pass to visit with these colleges.

Quiz Team! If you love trivia, then join the Davidson Quiz Team to test your knowledge against your classmates! There is a meeting Thursday after school in room 119. We will be discussing competitions this year and how you can get involved! We hope to see you there!
