September 16th is Mexican Independence Day, which celebrates Mexico’s declaration of independence from Spain in 1810. This day is filled with national pride, colorful parades, mariachi concerts, and food. People of Mexican heritage all over the world commemorate this important event in their country’s history.

The Franklin County Board of Elections is looking for students 17 and older to work the polls on November 5th. They are willing to pay approximately $170 for the commitment to participate. If interested, please visit their website link for “Youth at the Booth”. We are off school that day, so this is a great opportunity to make some money and learn more about our government.

Congratulations to the Davidson Marching Band for an outstanding performance at the Hilliard Band Invitational this past Saturday. It was their first competition of the season, and they received a Superior rating (the highest possible) and qualified for State Finals. Congrats to our Wildcat band!!
