In the meantime, students can pay their bus fees now via “My Payments Plus”.  The Bus Fee is $100 for 5 trips, as we will travel by coach with Cardinal Transportation.  Please pay that as soon as possible.  Seating is limited and spots are given by a “first come – first serve” basis.  Email Mr. Bower (brent_bower@hboe.org) for details.

Native American Heritage Month:  There are currently five Native American people who will serve in Congress, and it will be the first time a Native American, Native Alaskan, and Native Hawaiian will serve at the same time. The Department of the Interior is led by Deb Haaland, a member of the Laguna Pueblo tribe. The book, I Can Make This Promise by Christine Day is part of Heritage’s Indigenous People Collection in Destiny Discovery. When twelve-year-old Edie finds letters and photographs in her attic it changes everything she thought she knew about her Native American mother’s adoption, and Edie realizes she has a lot to learn about her family’s history and her own identity.

Native American Heritage Month:  As we continue to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of Native Americans to the United States, another book will be featured that can be found in the Heritage Media Center. Rez Dog by Joseph Bruchac describes Malian, an eighth grade Penacook girl, who visits her grandparents, who live on a reservation, during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this verse novel, Bruchac takes a look at life in lockdown through the eyes of Malian, who copes with boredom, isolation, and the need to find her place by befriending a dog, whom she names Malsum (Wolf).
