HMS Teacher Selected for Prestigious Honor!

Congratulations to Ms. Emily Stout, 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Heritage, for being selected to participate in the 2022 Monticello Teacher Institute!  The Monticello Teacher Institute (MTI) is an immersive professional development program that provides social studies teachers the opportunity to research and study at Monticello and the Jefferson Library in Charlottesville, Virginia. Teachers engage in research to bolster their historical understanding, build resources for their classrooms, and contribute to the resources available online at the Monticello Digital Classroom.  Congratulations to Ms. Stout for being selected for this prestigious honor!

Update Your iPad!  With the recent approval of iPadOS15 for state testing, as well as dealing with the cyber security issue that occurred with AppleOS earlier this fall, we need all staff, and students, to update their iPad to iPadOS15 (iOS15.2.1).

Scheduling:  7th and 8th grade scheduling will start next week during Social Studies classes.

SPORTS:

The Girls Flex Basketball Team came out with a victory in an exciting game vs Weaver on Wednesday.  It was back and forth the entire game, but the girls were able to hold onto an 18-16 win!  This was an entire team effort, with key play from Ella Harms, Madison and Kylie Morris, Danie Mason and Marissa Brannan.  The Panthers finish out their season on Saturday @Logan Jr High!

The 7th Grade Boy’s Basketball Team lost a tough  one Thursday night  to Memorial 31-46.  The boys finished the regular season 13-3 and now the Panthers start tournament play against Grizzell on Saturday.

The 8th Grade Heritage Boys Basketball Team lost a tough game to Memorial 35-24 Thursday night.  The Panthers will start their tournament this Saturday at Weaver.

The 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team fell short last night against Memorial. Sam McGough led the team in scoring with 6 points. Our tough defense led to a 3rd quarter shut-out for Memorial. This concluded the regular season. Heritage will play their first tournament game tomorrow at 9AM at Darby against Jones Middle School.

Congratulations to the Panther Wrestling Team! Wednesday night they faced off against Memorial and won by a score of 51-34.  It was an incredible night of wrestling.  Great Job team.  This weekend the wrestling team will finish up their season with the Mean Green Duals at Dublin Davis.

Happy Birthday: Juliet Avellana, Katherine Leitch

Congratulations to the Wrestling Team last night as they beat Dublin Davis by a score of 69-21.  The Heritage wrestlers put the pressure on early and we were able to control the dual the entire match.  The wrestlers compete again tonight at Darby HS and face off against cross town rival Weaver beginning at 6:00pm.

Boys Flex basketball defeated Marysville Bunsold 33-21. A great team effort, scoring lead by Jonah Marsh and Brady Minogue.

Happy Birthday: Brayden Newman

The Boys Flex Basketball Team defeated crosstown rival Hilliard Weaver with a score of 39-26 this Saturday. The team had all-around solid effort with every starter contributing 6+ points, lead by Noah Ranft and Brady Minogue with 9 each.

FCA – (Fellowship of Christian Athletes & Students) will have their next meeting on Thursday, December 9th from 2:45-3:30 in Room 245.  We will be decorating Christmas Cookies and practicing our carols for later in the month when we will ring the bell for Salvation Army!

APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FOR GENIUS BAR:  If you are interested in applying to work in the Genius Bar during 2nd semester, stop by the Media Center and pick up an application. This is a semester-long course that is pass/fail and counts as an elective on a student’s schedule.  Genius Bar students help other students with iPad issues and support, along with assisting with other duties in the Media Center.  See Ms. Best with any questions about the application process.
