“Individual Education Program”
Individualized Education Programs (I.E.P.s) are written for each child determined to be eligible to receive special education/related services. The I.E.P. is a plan that outlines the services your child will receive and the specific goals that will guide his/her individualized instruction. The goals are selected by the parent, teacher and other team members (i.e., speech pathologist, occupational therapist, school psychologist) based on observations of the child and additional assessment information. Parents are a vital part of the I.E.P. development process, and are encouraged to suggest goals and objectives they believe should be addressed. An I.E.P. is developed annually; however, mutually agreed upon changes may be made at any time.
