Skill Expectations for Peer Program

**PEERS MUST BE COMPLETELY TOILET TRAINED**

o Play cooperatively with peers

o Take turns with minimal assistance

o Speak in clear English sentences and is able to answer and comprehend questions in English

o Participate in an activity when invited by a peer or an adult

o Verbally interact with peers in play situations

o Speech is clear and understandable by unfamiliar adults

o Can follow simple directions and some multiple step directions

o Respond to simple questions

o Can work and attend in small group for at least 10 minutes

o Use toys and classroom materials appropriately

o Listen attentively to a story and can make comments or answer age appropriate questions about a story

o Separate easily from parent

o Help with simple task when asked, (e.g., clean up time…)

o Follow safety rules when reminded

o Eat and drink independently

o Remove small articles of clothing

o Dress self except shoes

o Use bathroom independently

o Independently pick up small toys

o Use toys and objects appropriately (e.g., pushes truck, rocks baby..)

o Will share toys and cooperate in play

o Take turns in simple games (e.g., Duck, Duck, Goose; The Farmer in the Dell)
